Teak- the Most Popular Wood
By: Kenny F Leichester, Current Not yet Rated

Earth is a reservoir of resources which mankind has been tapping on for centuries. The food we grow, the black oil we pumped from the inner crusts, the animals we catch and eventually rear, earth has been kind to us in providing for our seemingly infinite needs. Its forests provide us with beautiful trees and logs which we use in making our homes.
Teak is one wood that is logged aggressively by man because of its high demand. The teak wood bears certain characteristics that makes it popular, one being highly durable. Another characteristic of teak is that the wood has natural shine therefore needs no varnish coating after it is turned into furniture. The teak tree is also highly insured by Mother Nature; in a sense that the said characteristics are only prevalent in wood of older teak trees. This means that logging for immature teak tree will be worthless.
In this age of environmental awareness, governments are going to great length in ensuring sustainability in its managing of resources. Replanting is often done whenever trees are felled so that these young trees would be able to replace them. This way, governments ensure that not only the forest areas are left relatively intact, but also for the wood-based industries to thrive.
The teak furniture is very popular among wood-based product lovers; not only because of its durability but also due to the fact that it can adapt well to any climate. Teak wood is also resistant towards termite attacks. This has made teak the material highly sought after for indoor and outdoor furnishing. You can find ranges of exotic teak wood furniture to a more conservative one.
Wood-based furniture is more costly than those made from other material. This is attributed to the richness and charisma it brings to one’s living room. So no wonder teak is a popular choice for those who can afford the luxury. Teak is not just widely used for sofa set, it is also commonly made into cabinets, side tables, window frames, doors and wall ornaments.
A good and skilled craftsman can do wonders to a piece of wood. Let your imagination run wild and you can be sure that you can achieve your dream piece of furniture or ornament. However, unlike plastic and metal, wood has a certain level of pliability that it can comply to and with that said, you are only restricted in the curviness of your design.
Many homes are equipped with a patio garden, which adds a certain warmth to every household especially if it is well cared after. Owners have been quite creative in instilling their signature look to the garden, so much so, there are often no two-of-a-kind. Being an extension of the house, patio furniture sets are invariably added to the garden as to enable both owners and guests to enjoy the scenery and the fresh air outside.
Many homes are equipping their gardens with outdoor heaters for an all year round usability of the patio as a guest and lounging area. Operated during the chillier seasons, these patio heaters makes short work of heating the open spaces to a level which is comfortable enough for one to just sit around outside without having to wear two or three layers of clothing.
As well as furniture, teak can also be a component of the patio umbrella. By placing them in strategic places around the garden, they will further enhance the look of the garden as well as provide shades and protection. A garden with patio umbrellas will have a striking balance between a stylish look and a natural look. With the shade and protection it provides, it can them be used as a lounging area.
Over time, wood-based product often looses their natural look and shine. Owners however should be overtly concerned with this as there are companies specializing in the restoration and preservation of the teak woods. A coating is applied that preserves the shine, the natural look and yet giving it full protection including from mildew growth. Once these coating are in place, owners can wash of any dirt or grime collected on the furniture set with a quick spray of water without worrying that it could ruin them.
It is no secret that teak furniture will require your extra tender love and care to keep it looking good. Teak furniture that is well cared for can lasts more than a hundred years for it is unmatched in durability. Teak is always a good investment for teak never goes out of style.
