Games for Christian Parties

Many times, members of a congregation get together for some light-hearted fun and clean entertainment. Games are always a great way to get everyone involved and make fun memories at such occasions. There exist several games that have a Bible version that are perfect for such situations. In Apples to Apples: Bible Edition, one player acts as a judge. The other players choose out of their stack a description word that describes an object that has previously been chosen. The judge then decides which one he or she likes best and that player wins the round. The Bible Edition includes such words as “Virtuous”, “Helpful”, “Mary”, “Jawbone”, “Baptism” and so forth. For Charade lovers, there is also Guesstures: Bible Edition. This version comes with words to act out like “Mountain”, “Husband” and “Candle”. Each card comes with a Bible scripture at the bottom. Scattergories: Bible Edition is even another way for Christian partiers to enjoy themselves. Just like the original, lists of topics are given and a special dice is rolled to determine the letter that must start an item that fits within these topics. In The Game of Scattergories: Bible Edition, topics include “Plagues”, “Things that are Counted”, “Fruits of the Spirit” and others. With games such as these, players are sure to have a hilarious and uplifting time.

The Best Night of the Week: Family Game Evening

Today, it is reported that around 60% of children born in the United States enter into broken families. Studies have been done that attest to the fact that children from broken families usually have 2-3 times more serious problems than other children. Having a constant Family Game Evening is one way that can help keep the family together. Family Game Evening is when the family picks a day of the week to regularly get together as a family and have fun playing a game. Family Game Evenings prompt family bonding where members learn about one another and recognize the abilities and qualities of each other. It is great for building memories and just having a good time together. Family Game Evenings also give the children and parents something to look forward to in the week. Even wayward children have come home specifically for Family Game Evening since they know the family will all be together. Despite the trials each member may be facing, having regular evenings of family fun helps keep the family close.

Learning can be as fun as playing a game. Interesting facts and stats can be learned in games of Trivia like Outburst, Trivial Pursuit or the Game of Knowledge. These games also present items and ideas in which gamers may have interest but had never heard of before. Children learn a lot of new words from games, whether inside the rules or at other points during the game. Grown-ups also learn unfamiliar words, like in Scattergories, Taboo and Scrabble. Some games illustrate simply how things that are more complex work. Mortgage is taught basically in Monopoly, the stock market is exemplified in Pit, and even auctions take place in the game Masterpiece. Learning can be fun!

Deciding Between Online Games or Playing Games with the Family

With all of the many entertainment options now available in today’s world, it is important that we decide wisely how to use our leisure time. More and more children and even parents are deciding to spend their time with online games rather than playing games with each other. However, there are many more positives that come out of playing a game with the family versus playing an online game. For one, family games allow everyone to interact, whereas online gaming requires a computer per player and most family members will not be able to get in on the fun. Games with the family allow for real interactions on a personal level. Online gaming relationships tend to be just as virtual as the game. Many online games contain much violence and other degrading material that are not wholesome for younger children. Family games rarely if ever touch on such matters and never at the same gravity as online games. Games played with the family usually involve learning and pushing the brain but online games rarely require such mental exertion. Because online games usually do not have a definitive end, gamers become hooked on these virtual realities for hours that add up quickly to months lost to these games. Games that are played with the family have a relatively short range of game play time so that the family can go on to different activities. Family games open opportunities of fun instances that the family will remember for years. Online games rarely have such moments. Games played with the family also do not require monthly fees. Despite the popularity of online games, these simply do not substitute for the fun and real bonding that comes from playing games with the family.
